How long does it take to build a pond?
Most residential pond constructions take 2–5 days depending on size and complexity. Larger or more complex projects may take longer. We will give you a clear timeline during your free consultation.
Do I need planning permission for a garden pond?
In most cases, residential garden ponds do not require planning permission. However, if you live in a listed building or conservation area there may be restrictions. We can advise you on this during the consultation.
What size pond can you build?
We build ponds of all sizes - from small ornamental ponds of a few hundred litres right up to large koi ponds and natural swimming ponds of many thousands of litres.
Can you build a pond that is suitable for fish?
Absolutely. We design and build ponds specifically for koi, goldfish and other ornamental fish, with the depth, filtration and water quality that fish require to thrive.
How much does it cost to build a pond in Essex, Kent, London or Hertfordshire?
Pond construction costs vary significantly with size, depth and specification. A small wildlife pond starts from around £1,800–£2,500. A standard garden pond with filtration typically costs £3,500–£8,000. Koi ponds with high-capacity filtration and landscaping start from £8,000 and can reach £20,000+ for large showpiece projects. We provide fully itemised quotes after a free site visit.
What type of liner do you recommend for a new pond?
We use EPDM rubber liner as standard - a 0.75mm or 1mm membrane backed by a woven geotextile underlay. EPDM is fish-safe, flexible down to -40°C, UV-resistant, and carries a 30-year manufacturer guarantee. The liner is then covered with natural stone boulders and gravel for a natural, seamless finish.
Do you offer a warranty on new pond construction?
Yes - all our new pond builds are covered by our workmanship guarantee. We stand behind the quality of our work, and any defects in installation are our responsibility to rectify. Individual components (pumps, filters, liners) also carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we pass on to you at handover.
Can you help me decide between a wildlife pond and a koi pond?

Each type has different depth requirements, filtration needs, maintenance levels and costs.
