What Our Customers Say

“From our first detailed conversation, it was clear William knew his stuff. He took great care of the fish during the process and left me with a sparkling clean pond, a new filter system, and a clear plan for ongoing care. I've already booked a follow-up. I couldn't be happier with the results.”

“Excellent service, advice, and fast work, all completed by William and his colleague. New pond all completed within two days. Super pleased with the wildlife beach area. Looking forward to the frogs moving back in. Highly recommended.”
Anita Benson

“William turned up at the agreed time on a Sunday morning. He was fully equipped and left the waterfall working well and the area clean. He was approachable all the time and left me with a few hints. All in all he did an excellent job and I can thoroughly recommend him.”

A wildlife pond is one of the single best things you can do for nature in your garden. Unlike ornamental ponds, wildlife ponds are designed to mimic natural water bodies - with gently sloping edges, native plants and no fish - creating a thriving habitat for frogs, toads, newts, dragonflies, damselflies, water beetles and countless other species. They require far less maintenance than a fish pond and, once established, largely look after themselves. Our wildlife pond installation specialists design and build ponds that blend naturally into your garden while maximising biodiversity. We serve homeowners across Essex, Kent, Greater London and Hertfordshire who want to give something back to nature.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long before wildlife finds my new pond?
You may see insects visiting within days. Frogs and toads typically find a new pond within 1–2 seasons. Newts are more cautious and may take a full year or two to establish. Dragonflies and damselflies often appear surprisingly quickly once aquatic plants are in.
Should I add fish to a wildlife pond?
We strongly recommend against it. Fish eat the eggs, tadpoles and larvae of frogs, newts and invertebrates - the very wildlife a wildlife pond is designed to support. A fish-free pond is always richer in wildlife.
How much maintenance does a wildlife pond need?
Very little - that is part of the beauty of a wildlife pond. You may want to thin out vigorous plants occasionally and remove excess duckweed if it becomes too dense, but in general a wildlife pond manages itself remarkably well once established.
How big does a wildlife pond need to be?
Even a small pond of 1–2 square metres can support significant wildlife. Larger ponds support more species, but do not be put off by a smaller garden - we can design a pond to fit almost any space.
How much does a wildlife pond installation cost?
Wildlife ponds are often one of the most affordable types of pond to build, because they need no pump, filter or electrical supply. A small to medium wildlife pond typically costs from £1,500–£3,500 installed, depending on size, depth, access and planting scheme. We provide free, no-obligation quotes for all projects across Essex, Kent, Greater London and Hertfordshire.
Do wildlife ponds attract mosquitoes?
A healthy, balanced wildlife pond is actually one of the best controls for mosquito larvae. Pond skaters, water boatmen, diving beetles and - once established - frogs and newts all prey on mosquito larvae before they hatch. Dense oxygenating plant cover also disrupts breeding. A thriving wildlife pond typically reduces mosquito numbers rather than increasing them.
What native plants do you recommend for a wildlife pond?
For a UK wildlife pond we recommend a mix of oxygenators such as hornwort or water starwort, native marginals like yellow flag iris, marsh marigold and water mint, and floating plants such as frogbit. We source plants from specialist UK aquatic nurseries and select species appropriate for your region and pond size.
